The Outdoor Radio Controlled Blimp operates much like other radio controlled model aircraft, using similar engines, fuel, batteries and servos. The 2.4 GHz programmable radio transmitter and dual receiver is free from any type of frequency interference including RF noise.
Pilot trainees must have a minimum 5 years experience operating radio controlled model aircraft and must show good judgment for safety.
The blimp is flown upwind so that if one engine fails there is still enough power to fly safely downwind to your setup area. It is also flown “heavier than air” so that if both engines fail it will come down and not float around as a hazard to full size aircraft.
The blimp has two separate envelopes. An Outer "non-laminated" rip-stop nylon shell and an inner polyurethane helium holding bladder. Everything is attached to the outer nylon shell with no direct stress on the inner helium bladder. This offers theb maximum operating durability and safety.
All our blimps are filled with the inert gas helium. Helium gas is non-flammable, non-combustible and non-toxic. Since it is a compressed gas, the only danger comes from the improper handling of the cylinders when moving them or improperly using the pressure regulator.
